Hello, kind people! My name is Stella, and I am seeking help for my seven-year-old daughter Simona (Moni). A little over six years ago, I was the happiest expectant mother — carrying identical twins. At the beginning of the eighth month, doctors discovered that a heartbeat could only be heard for one of my babies. Premature delivery was necessary… Moni cried, but her sister did not — I saw her lifeless body, which had been inside me for days. Due to toxic waters, the consequences for Moni were catastrophic — severe cerebral palsy with spastic quadriplegia and severe epilepsy. Life with Moni is a continuous struggle — between doctors, therapists, and rehabilitation. I rely solely on myself to provide her with the most fulfilling life possible despite her diagnosis. Thanks to kind people like you, we are able to attend a clinic in Turkey, where she receives specialized therapy and treatment. Because of spastic quadriplegia, Moni has a leg length difference of 3–4 cm and a displacement of the hip joint. After numerous examinations in Bulgaria and Turkey, specialists have confirmed — she needs hip surgery. Following the recommendation of neurologists, we turned to the orthopedic hospital Speising in Vienna, which specializes in such surgeries for children with epilepsy. There, we met Dr. Alexander Krebs, a lower-limb specialist. After examinations and X-rays, he confirmed that the surgery must take place this year, as any delay would cause unbearable pain, halt rehabilitation, and worsen her overall condition. After the surgery, Moni will be completely immobile for a month and a half and under constant medical supervision, which requires a longer stay in Vienna. I applied to the National Health Insurance Fund for funding, but unfortunately, we were denied coverage for surgery abroad.
