We have received important information from Ivanka’s daughter and would like to share it with all donors who supported the family during this difficult period. Seven months ago, Ivanka was diagnosed with a severe illness – stage IV ovarian cancer, with metastases in the abdominal cavity. After starting chemotherapy, she suffered a bowel perforation due to a previous surgery, and her condition deteriorated sharply. Doctors saw no further treatment options, and the prognosis was extremely poor – she was given only a few months to live. Ivanka was discharged from the hospital and left in the care of her daughter, Izabella. The family sought a chance for salvation in foreign hospitals, but everywhere they were told that nothing more could be done. Finally, a hospital in Turkey responded positively, stating that they had specialists capable of handling her case. Although time constraints and the enormous required funds did not allow them to proceed immediately, Ivanka’s condition gradually began to stabilize – the perforation closed, her indicators improved, and doctors once again gave hope. She was able to undergo six chemotherapy sessions, which led to a significant reduction in the tumor mass. After the latest consultations, specialists determined that a complex surgery to remove the tumors could be performed. The operation took place on November 26 in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. Ivanka has already been operated on and is currently in intensive care. We are awaiting information from her family about her condition following the intervention. At her daughter’s request, the campaign remains temporarily active until Ivanka leaves intensive care and it becomes clear whether campaign funds will be needed for hospitalization, surgery, treatment, or possible subsequent medical expenses. Two years ago, she underwent bowel surgery. It was considered a routine abdominal procedure, with no suspicion of cancer. She recovered and lived as peacefully as she could. But two months ago, we received the most devastating news — advanced malignant cancer (stage IV), with metastases. The disease had progressed too far without being detected in time. A few weeks ago, her abdomen began to swell. It turned out that the surgery from two years ago had reopened — an open intestinal wound leaking fluid full of bacteria. The infection quickly spread throughout her abdomen. The fluid turned green. Antibiotics are keeping her alive — but they are no longer working. From the hospital in the Netherlands where she is currently admitted, we were told that nothing more could be done, as they do not know how to treat the open intestinal wound. They plan to discharge her without even trying to save her. But we are not ready to say goodbye. Not yet. We consulted doctors from a hospital in Istanbul, who told us that there is hope. However, before cancer treatment can begin, specialized treatment is required to address the intestinal issue, followed by surgery to close the wound. For all medical procedures, examinations, hospital stay, and ambulance transport to Turkey, we need approximately 120,000 BGN. This is the price placed on my mother’s life — and this is only the beginning. I cannot do this alone.
