The Church Board appeals to everyone who wishes to help to donate according to their means, so that the construction of the new church in Vekhtovo village can be completed. Although progress is slow, the church is being built thanks to donations and the efforts of volunteers. The campaign to build a new church, which has united Christians and Muslims, started more than five years ago. Local residents continue to raise funds patiently, contributing what they can, and eagerly await the day when they can light a candle, pray in the new church, baptize, and marry their children there. At least 25,000 BGN are still needed by the Orthodox Christians of Vekhtovo to fulfill their dream of having a house of God in the village. In a conversation with Father Plamen, who serves this parish, we learned that the church still does not have an iconostasis. It has long been made, but due to a lack of funds, it has not been paid for and is gathering dust in the manufacturer’s warehouse. Liturgical books and a curtain for the Royal Doors of the altar also need to be purchased. The church still lacks sacred vessels – items without which the Divine Liturgy cannot be performed: chalice and diskos, censer, baptismal font, candlesticks, and more.
